Co-Sponsored with Center for Spiritual Studies

Beginning with the prehistoric origins of spiritualism, this workshop will touch on the contributions and efforts of early western religions to explain life in the spirit realm. Following more recent precursors of spiritualism, Swedenborg, Messmer, and Andrew Jackson Davis the study will briefly discuss the initial events in Hydesville, NY and the treatment and controversy surrounding the Fox sisters.

The development and incorporation of Spiritualism will trace the growing pains of the religion, camps, churches and organizations. As the history unfolds, the development of the intrinsic principles that guide this religion will be discussed, as will the Principles themselves.

The seminar will conclude with the present day practice of the religion and present possible future development and expansion as individual increasing awareness of this vital and vibrant religion blossoms in the 21st century.
