America’s Civil War battlefields are laboratories for paranormal investigations. Mark Nesbitt has collected over a thousand stories that appear to show evidence of spirit entities lingering on battlefields, as seen in The Ghosts of Gettysburg series on the History Channel. Dr. Emmons has collected similar accounts of hauntings in China as well as in the town of Gettysburg and on the Gettysburg College campus. Using these data as well as photographs, videos and audio recordings, Nesbitt and Emmons will present both evidence of ghosts and theories to explain them.

Mark and Charlie have also had their own personal “ghost” experiences over the years and will share in discussion with you how their curiosity over these events is currently leading them into further research to turn up the scientific spotlight on ghosts.

MARK NESBITT is the author of the popular Ghosts of Gettysburg book series (six volumes), A Ghost Hunter’s Field Guide: Gettysburg and Beyond, and several books on the Civil War. He also appears in the “Ghosts of Gettysburg” television series, as well as “Mysterious Journeys” on the Travel Channel (fall 2007), and in episodes of “Unsolved Mysteries” and “Sightings”. His many awards include the National Paranormal Award for “Best True Hauntings Collection” and “Best ‘Local Haunt’ Guidebook” (2004). He also runs the “Ghosts of Gettysburg Candlelight Walking Tours” and the “Ghosts of Fredericksburg Tours” in Virginia.

CHARLES EMMONS is the author of Chinese Ghosts and ESP, and Guided by Spirit: a Journey into the Mind of the Medium (with Penelope Emmons). He has appeared on numerous TV and radio shows in the U.S. and Hong Kong, including the “Ghosts of Gettysburg” series with Mark, “Sightings”, and the Art Bell “Dreamland” show. As a sociologist at Gettysburg College he investigates the way science studies or ignores paranormal phenomena such as ghosts, spirit mediumship, and UFOs.
