Meet at the Lily Dale Fire Hall

Fee: $25.00

Some people define “ghost” and “spirit” differently. Find out why as our night time walking tour of Lily Dale begins at the Fire Hall. There we will begin with a brief overview of Spiritualism and the unseen realms. We’ll tell you a brief history of how Lily Dale got started, and how it rapidly grew to become the world’s largest center for the religion of Spiritualism.

We will walk past many of the old “haunts” of Lily Dale. There is the Healing Temple, where “spirit lights” have been caught on film as the healers work, channeling spirit help to those in need. We’ll stop by our historic museum, which once was the one room schoolhouse for the district. There hang paintings which have been precipitated onto canvas by unseen hands. We will pass by the lake, where spirits have been seen in the mists. As we walk, we’ll learn about Lily Dale’s rich, interesting history, and hear a few ghost stories as well.

As we walk by the entrance gate to the present grounds, you will notice the original site where the first summer meetings took place. This is now called the Leolyn Hotel, and ghosts of the past still linger there. It is now again part of present day Lily Dale, but many overlook this special place. The Leolyn Woods is a rare gem of remaining “old growth” forest in New York State. Many of its ancient trees were seedlings before the white man walked this land. The spirits of Native Americans still come to touch some of those who walk through this area. In the woods is an energy “vortex” called Inspiration Stump. We’ll linger at this location in the dark at the end of our walk, to see if we can sense the presence of Spirit. If it is pouring out, our tour will end in Assembly Hall, where the Spirits have helped seekers almost as many years as at the “Stump”.

Our tour will wrap up at these spiritually charged spots, so those wishing to linger after the tour may do so. If it is rainy, be sure to bring an umbrella. The rain won’t “dampen our spirits”. The tour requires about an hour of walking and some stair climbing. Handicapped persons are welcome to tag along as best they can. A wheel chair or scooter may be helpful for them.

All of your Ghostwalk hosts are familiar with Lily Dale and its “haunts”. Each has a special love for ‘the Dale” and its history. No two tours are alike. While there is never a guarantee that you’ll see a ghost or sense Spirit, you’re sure to gain a better understanding of them and of Lily Dale.

RON NAGY is Lily Dale’s historian, walking tour guide, ghost walk commentator and a year round resident of Lily Dale. Ron is a published writer and amateur ghost investigator along with conducting “spoon bending” parties in Western New York.

JOSEPH SHIEL, III, is an award winning teacher, a motivational lecturer, a medium, spiritual counselor and chaplain, a Reiki Master, certified healer, artist, sculptor, musician, writer and poet. Joe channels musical compositions, paintings and drawings of recognizable spirit loved ones, guides and teachers, sculpts intuitive images and uses color and energy while interpreting clear messages in the art forms; he also brings through animal images and symbols. Joe now resides in Lily Dale.
