Touch Drawing is a visual art technique created by Deborah Koff Chapin at the Center for Touch Drawing in Seattle, Washington. She describes it as “. . . a simple yet profound process where the soul speaks through the hands.”
We begin this process using guided meditation and visual imagery while our hearts and minds are invited to relax into a safe space to receive spirit.
The actual physical drawing process begins by rolling paint onto a smooth surface. Next a thin sheet of paper is placed over that surface and wherever the paper is touched, an imprint will appear. Images from within are revealed through the touch of the fingertips - a manifestation of spirit “talking” through you.
Touch Drawing is a very powerful means of self-expression - an expression of the soul. It is both meditative and therapeutic. Each drawing is unique and does not require previous artistic experience. There are no judgments or expectations; just the openness to work with spirit using this visual art technique.
Soft background music is played during the process. Together with the natural, free-flowing movement of hands over paper, a safe, supportive environment is created in which participants feel free to “let go” and allow their feelings to surface. Profound healing can then begin.
Allow Touch Drawing to take you on a personal journey that could move you to your deepest depths and greatest heights. The choice is yours. Let your soul begin to speak its own language.
